10 years ago today

10 years ago today David picked me up for our first date at 7:00 am to go to a singles activity to watch a football game. I could have cared less about football. I only enjoy football if its a team I care about (The Buckeyes!). But I agreed to go anyone because I thought this young man was cute and I would be home around noon or 1 right? WRONG! After the football game he asked me if I wanted Subway for lunch. So I agreed. We were near his home in Chugiak, AK and he said he had to run home real quick so around 2:00 we went to his parents house. I only agreed because I knew his sister was home so while he went and changed I sat and talked with his sister but before that. When we got to his house he said to Amanda "Hey Amanda, This is Rebekah I plan on marrying her one day." What?! This is date one and I've only known him for like a month. Not going to lie it scared me a little bit because I just graduated high school and was only 19 years old. But I knew he was a good christian man and I did meet him at church and he was really cute.

After his house we went on a walk in his neighborhood no hand holding but I sure wanted too. When we came across his neighbors house we talked a bit and this time he just introduced me as Rebekah. LOL! Anyway we ended up talking to them for a while and they were renovating their kitchen and so while we were talking with them we helped pack their kitchen. This is when I saw how much of a hard worker David is. He was willing to help pack a kitchen for an older couple on a first date. By this time it was like 5:00 so we went out to dinner on our way to dinner we saw his dad's truck at the Sushi place so David wanted me to meet his dad so we went and stayed a few minutes so I can meet his dad. (We didn't eat Sushi not our thing).

After dinner we went to a 7:00 movie and to be honest with you I can't even remember what movie we saw but I was just happy to be in good company. Once we were after the movie he asked me what I wanted to do next and I had to tell him it was now 9:30 and I should probably go home because my parents might be worried about me since I didn't own a cell phone back then. So after 15 hours David dropped me off and we said our good bye's with a quick brief hug.

Once I got inside boy was I right about my parents. My mom was sitting at the top of the stairs waiting for me and I could tell by the look on my dad's face he wasn't happy with me either. Well, the next day they took me to ATT to get a cell phone for me. LOL! David and I went out every weekend and talked on the phone everyday until he left for the military a few days after Valentines Day.
